Feb 20 – Lent Project – Chris Arias

On February 20, 2013 by Eddie

Hi. I’m Chris Arias. I’m a writer and producer and play in the band at several Northpoint campuses and Free Chapel. I’ve been married to Andi, a wonderful woman with an amazing heart for 21 years. We live in Cumming, GA with our three kids: Grayson – 16, Gigi – 15 and Maggie – 13.

Life is pretty full tilt these days with a teenage trio and a busy studio schedule. It’s often a challenge to stay centered and to make space for our hearts to connect with the Father. That’s one of the reasons I loved participating in the Advent Project and why I was eager to participate here. It MAKES me create some time to meditate on some passages of scripture that are being read and thought about by Jesus followers all around the world.

Today’s passages focus on the certainty of death and the un-earnable gift of eternal life available in Christ. Rarely do we take purposeful time to think about the certainty of death. More than a moment’s reflection on the subject usually invites fears of every description to invade our mind. But living with a sense that our days are numbered can also lead us to wisdom. And when we connect with the reality of what Christ accomplished for us on the cross, when we accept his offer to be born again into a new life, we can live free of the fear of death and love others with more abandon.
