Mar 13 – Lent Project – Chris Arias

On March 13, 2013 by Eddie

Hi. I’m Chris Arias. I’m a writer and producer and play in the band at several Northpoint campuses and Free Chapel. I’ve been married to Andi, a wonderful woman with an amazing heart for 21 years. We live in Cumming, GA with our three kids: Grayson – 16, Gigi – 15 and Maggie – 13.

Life is pretty full tilt these days with a teenage trio and a busy studio schedule. It’s often a challenge to stay centered and to make space for our hearts to connect with the Father. That’s one of the reasons I loved participating in the Advent Project and why I was eager to participate here. It MAKES me create some time to meditate on some passages of scripture that are being read and thought about by Jesus followers all around the world.

Today’s passages focus on our identity in Christ and our security in his calling. He is asked by an unbelieving people what works they must do to do the work of God. His response is surprising. “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” In other words, take Jesus at his word and believe he is who he says he is.

Sometimes that’s easier said than done. There will be seasons when we are brought low. Whether by circumstance, our own wrong beliefs, sinful actions or those of others, there will be times when we feel far from God. But in today’s passage, Jesus makes an incredible promise. “All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.” What an amazing promise of identity, belonging and security. If you desire to walk with Jesus, take comfort and courage in the reality that once you’re his, you’re his forever.

Freedom –

Chris
